Stylist Jenny Ricker, who has worked with Jon Hamm, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Liam Hemsworth and Zac Efron, among others, also hosted Alternative’s 20th anniversary celebration. Beginning her career as a model agent at Ford Models, Ricker began assisting for celebrity stylist Cristina Ehrlich for several years. From there, she slowly began to manage her own styling projects and hasn’t looked back since. We sat down with her to chat about her inspiration, personal style and upcoming trend forecast.
What inspires you?
Travel – moreover the street style in travel destinations. I am inspired by how different locale affects the wardrobe needs of the people who live there.
When do you feel most creative?
I am most creative when working or collaborating with people I respect and admire.
How would you describe your personal style?
Functional and simple. Also, I love to wear basic colors like grey, black, white and blue. I, personally, find neutrals to be most flattering and also very easy to pair with one another. The less fuss, the better the look often times.
Do you think fashion plays a big role in terms of self-expression?
Absolutely! Wardrobe choices can be as informative as body language.
Which trends are you forecasting for 2016?
Tonal twists on monochromatic looks. For example, not a full turquoise look but several varying shades of turquoise in an outfit.
What’s next for you?
I looooove my dog so much. I would love to, one day, work with animals. Dog styling? Ha!
